Super Bowl XVII was played in 1983 and the team defeated the Miami Dolphins 27-17. Super Bowl XXII was played in 1988 and the team defeated the Denver Broncos 42-10. Super Bowl XXVI was played in 1992 and the team defeated the Buffalo Bills 37-24. The team was led by quarterback Joe Theismann and running back John Riggins in Super Bowl XVII, quarterback Doug Williams in Super Bowl XXII, and quarterback Mark Rypien in Super Bowl XXVI.
