Michael Jordan is a retired professional basketball player in the North American Basketball League. Today he is an entrepreneur and holds the majority of the Charlotte Hornets basketball team. Between 1984 and 2003 he played in the US professional league NBA, including 13 years with the Chicago Bulls, later with the Washington Wizards. Today he is considered to be one of the best players in NBA history, others even say that he would be the best player of all time in the world. His nickname is Michal Air Jordan, due to its enormous bounce and unique dunking.

The company Nike sells products that carry the Jumpman logo and are therefore officially a product of the Michael Jordan brand. The Jumpman logo is based on a photo taken in a studio of Michael Jordan performing a dunk. This picture was enclosed with the Air Jordan I shoe to increase sales and quickly became known. The Jumpman logo then graced the Air Jordan III for the first time in 1988. This resulted in several fashion lines, including the Jumpman Statement Style. The logo will also appear on selected NBA jerseys since the 2020/2021 season. The famous symbol will appear on the league's Statement Edition jerseys, having previously been reserved for the Charlotte Hornets, owned and equipped by Jordan Brand. The NBA Statement Edition jerseys will feature the logo on the right shoulder, while the shorts will feature the design on the left leg. According to Nike, the use of the Jumpman on all 30 Statement Edition jerseys "gives the brand an ubiquitous presence across the league". The teams wear their respective Statement Edition uniforms at major games during the season as they tend to have a bolder overall design compared to the regular jerseys.
